Upper Green River Fishing Report

The Upper Green River Fishing Report as of today is the Fontenelle Dam releases are projected to remain constant through the spring at 1250 CFS, which is setting up for an incredible spring season. We’ve been taking a few trips and the fishing/catching has improved every day as the water temps warm up. The midges were blanketing the water the other day and the fish we’re starting to key in on them. We have several guides working now for late winter/spring trips. Our meeting time has been 10am to get on the water and getting off around 5-6pm. If the weather turns inclement, there is NO CHARGE for cancellations.

Nymphing has been the most productive way to catch fish this time of the year with small midge patterns, san juan worms and scuds. Midges have been active on days over 45 degrees, but the fish are keying on them around 3-5 pm. Swinging a small streamer pattern with sinking line never hurts on the tougher days. Best fishing has been between 3pm and 5pm; look in the bottom ends of the riffles just when the water slows a little bit and later in the day move up into the riffles to feed as the temps warm up.
