It’s ALMOST summer and we’ve already been guiding on these two awesome waterways on and off for over a month, which is VERY EARLY, considering the 30 year averages. My recommendation is to get it while the gettins good!!!
The latest and greatest from the Green and New Fork Rivers is lots of Goldens, Drakes and Caddis with some sallies trying to get in on the action. With the cooler mornings you might consider rolling with the frost delay protocol and get another cup of Joe. Mid to late morning up until late afternoon has been the most consistent action. Once the bite slows down don’t hesitate to add on a dropper; particularly a caddis pupa, soft hackle pheasant tail or even a 20 incher. Tuck your cast as close to the bank as possible and be ready for the chomp. The 3x-7 foot leader is preferred but not necessary. For those who prefer to strip the meat that method has been drawing the monster class out to participate! I’d suggest 0x-9 foot leader is a winner for sure. Black and Olive have been quite productive and the streamer de jour has been the Sculpzilla pattern in a 4 or 6.
The flows at Warren Bridge are hovering around 1300 cfs at the moment and it should stay around there for a few days and drop a tad over the weekend. Tight lines to everyone and PLEASE Keep ‘Em Wet!!!
