September/October to Remember!!!!!!
7.16.2017
The upcoming September/October to remember might be a once in a lifetime opportunity, as a lot of the old timers are telling me. This season we have been experiencing the 200-300 year flood from the massive snowpacks. What does this mean? It means the necessary ingredients are in place for a September/October to remember; these ingredients are cool water temps, abundant dissolved oxygen, lots of bugs, both wet and dry and plenty of flows and supply, in the main and side channels to keep the larger fish there.
Typically when the water levels and temps drop the larger fish vacate from the main stems and head upstream in the tributaries where the temps are cooler and there’s less pressure. There is still quite a bit of snow still up high in the Wind River and Wyoming Ranges which will help keep the river water temps cool throughout the summer.
As of today, the flows in the Green and New Fork are still double their 30 year average. See the graphs below.
We are booking through October this year and highly recommend our riverside camping option to get the best of the west! Please call 307-413-0669 or email; [email protected] to book your trip or just to talk fishing and get the latest. Tight lines!
